Prayer Ministry
Our Goal
The goal of this prayer ministry is to be faithful to the instructions of Jesus to watch and pray. Matthew 26:41Our Purpose
The purpose is to pray for the leaders of ACTS and other individuals who bring prayer requests. I Timothy 2:1-2We are a group of people who are called to intercession and have committed to help fulfill the goal and purpose of the ministry. Some of these individuals meet weekly for an hour and a half to pray. Anyone who has the call to be an intercessor is invited to be a part of this group whether or not they can attend weekly prayer times.
The weekly gathering also functions as a small group by praying for each other, doing book studies, and having a brunch periodically. Most of the personal prayer items are shared by e-mail, leaving time each week to pray for ACTS' leader and any other prayer requests. These requests are regarded as confidential unless given permission to make them public. Members of this group take turns being responsible to lead the prayer time.
A leader of the Prayer Ministry is appointed by the leadership team. This person is responsible to see that the intercessors work as a team, that the pre-service prayer times on Sunday mornings take place, and the leader also works with the pastor to develop and launch other aspects of prayer for ACTS.
There is also a yearly retreat for the intercessors to be refreshed, have teaching on prayer, and plan for the ongoing plans for the coming year.
