Leadership
The local church is one of the most leadership intensive environments around. At ACTS, we try to leverage this reality by providing practical “along-side” training and support for leaders and ministry volunteers. Our goal is to create a congregation where development of people is primary; each leader growing from where he or she is, into the fullest expression of gifts and skills God intends. Opportunities for servant-leaders are readily available in many areas. Our Vision of Leadership Development at ACTS consists of:
1. An understanding that every organization is one generation away from extinction. It is imperative that a congregation develops the people in her midst. This then becomes a stewardship issue—we are stewards of what God gives us. This includes people.
2. Current leaders looking out for potential leaders. This is an intentional process. It means that leaders of each ministry will be attentive to how people within their ministry area respond to responsibilities given to them. This includes all areas such as small groups, youth ministry, children’s ministry, and worship ministry.
3. Giving Potential Leaders guided opportunities for growth. Development of people takes place best when there are clear expectations and dynamic feedback from those over them. Potential leaders need to be able to welcome and make space for feedback. Current leaders need to make time and give direction to less experienced, potential leaders.
